As is the case with downtown Phoenix, the Phoenix metropolitan area is arranged with a rectangular grid of major roads running due north-south and due east-west. The rough map below highlights the major freeways (I-10, I-17, Loop 202, SR-51, and US 60) that provide access to downtown Phoenix. The shaded area is the region shown in the detailed map on the previous page. This map represents a patch approximately 15 kilometers wide; north is at the top of the page.
